Traditional catholics do all sorts of things that became outmoded during the '60's. That's because they don't recognise the changes that were made during Vatican Council II in the '60's. However, most Catholics observe the new order, which means staying for the whole mass and going up to get a blessing during communion time.

Some parishes do that, some don't. It was not done at my parish. If catechumens are dismissed, it will be announced during Mass. No one is going to know you are a catechumen unless you tell them, and no one is going to throw you out mid-Mass. Personally, I would advise you to stick around for the whole Mass.

(I'm an x-catholic) I never heard of such a thing. No, every body stays until the end. You should not take Communion though.

No need for you to leave, just stay in your pew and don't go up to the communion line.

Go, stay the whole service, but don't take communion. If you don't feel comfortable doing something, then don't (holy water, rosary, etc.).
