Episcopal churches are good for people in your position. It is related to the Catholic church, but is a lot less rigid, and is without the wild evangelical worship sessions that you seem to want to avoid.
I attend one that often serves as a refugee church for those who have been hurt by other churches. No one is pressured into staying or leaving.
If you do look into an Episcopal church, be aware that there is a split in the church going on based on the outlook on homosexuality. Some churches accept it and others don't.
Depending on where you stand on that issue, you will want to ask questions before attending so you don't find yourself in a congregation that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Good luck on your search.

The Church of Jesus Christ L.D.S. is a great family church. It sponsors Boy Scouts, and has a young men's and young women's program. The family is the most important thing that God gave us on this earth. I wish you the best however you choose. I also would suggest giving this the true test and praying to God for a answer to what church he would like to see you join. God bless and good luck.

I was christened Episcopalian, raised Methodist and Baptist, went to Catholic Mass, studied with JW, spent a little time with the Rollers, spent a year with the Mormons and chanted with the Buddhists. I am now a Seventh-Day Adventist as I believe they follow Bible truths more closely than any other and they have great kid programs. I wish you well in your search. Mmm

Try visiting an Independent Fundamental Baptist church. Just because you visit a church doesn't mean you HAVE to become a member. Just give it a try. My husband NEVER went to church until I started going to an IFB church and got him to give it a try. Now he goes with me to church EVERY Sunday and loves every minute.

I agree with midnight. Try a IFB church, they are great churches, have excellent children's programs, and the pastor preaches the word of God.

Unfortunately, the very things you wish to avoid, are in the Bible:
Mark 16:16-18
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that disbelieveth shall be condemned.
17 And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them
Acts 19:6
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
There are many more verses relating to this, however, for the sake of length I will stop there.
The gift of the Holy Spirit affects different people different ways. Many people dance with joy, many people fall over, many cry. This is because for each person, the Holy Spirit is doing something very personal in each person's life.
You may want to ask yourselves exactly why you wish to go to church. I am not saying this to be rude, or discriminatory, but the churches that include "tongue talking" and "falling over" are following the Bible's teachings, and I would definitely WANT my children going there.

I suppose you want the gospel sugar coated as well.
If you do not want a church that follows the Bible then what is the point?
