Some depressed people commit suicide.
Some depressed people take antidepressants.
Some depressed people taking antidepressants are going to commit suicide anyway. but it's in spite of the antidepressants, not because ot them.
It's like saying cancer treatments cause people to die of cancer. I'm sure you could find a high rate of people were on cancer treatments who died of cancer. It's not a logical argument; it's not even a "chicken or the egg" question.
I have taken antidepressants for years, but I had the suicidal thoughts before I starting taking medication. After 23 years, I haven't killed myself yet.

Anti-Depressants can be a lifeline or lifesaver for people if prescibed correctly (I'm talking about adults). What has happened is that people are so very depressed or suicidal, and are simply too depressed to kill themselves. When they go on the antidepressants it may lift their mood just enough to give them the energy to go through with it. Therapists need to make this clear to patients as a possible side effect. Usually, the feeling will pass as you begin to come out of the depression.

Antidepressants even say they may cause more suicidal thoughts or actions if you take their medication.
However, antidepressants also help with other things.
Welbutrin (aka Bupropion) can help cease the need for a cigarette.
I am taking that for both reasons intending and it does work.

yes i think so.sometimes when a person is seriously depressed it actually can cause suicidal thoughts which are hard to ignore.if a person has these thoughts it will be made worse by the antidepressants especially in young people.i know from my own experiences.

They have a side-effect where some can cause your symptoms to increase, one that I was on did. But if thats the case the patient should let their doctor know so that they can be taken off that and prescribed another.
