No you don't need your appendix.
Animals which eat a lot of greens (cows) need their appendix (and their appendix is larger then the human appendix)
But it does you no harm either; so theirs no point in removing it; because it won't really make you weigh any less. Unless it gets infected

Well if I do I'm in trouble. I don't know what the function of the appendix was earlier in human history, but apparently it just doesn't do much for us today. Except create large medical bills.

No it used to be neccesary when humans ate differently thousands of years ago but due to evolution and changing diets it is non - functional. removal of the appendix makes no difference to humans!

no not really. You can have it, but if u have an infection, it can get really horrible and i suggest maybe taking it out. It wont hurt but it will cost like 2000 bucks maybe. But then u wont have to worry. Or am i talking about a different organ?

Nope.......it is thought that your appendix is held over from your caveman genetics and was used to digest the harder foods that were eaten.
