I scheduled an appointment with a vet to have it removed-- but have not received an answer about how much it could cost

It depends on how large the lump is, where it is and what type of lump it is. contact your vet for an estimate

It really depends--anywhere from $300 to $1,000 depending on the location and size of the lump and whether you decide to have a biopsy done. Your vet will be able to give you an itemized estimate of the cost after the exam.
