My computer failed to start after installing BitDefender
This is the error message that I am getting

STOP: c000021a (Fatal System Error)
The Windows Logon Process System process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000005 (0x0000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down.

I tried to uninstall BitDefender in Safe Mode but was told that Windows Installer Service was not running, thus could not uninstall it. I tried to start the service manually yet it would not be started in Safe Mode. So it seems the only way to uninstall the software is to logon to windows. However, the is precisely the problem since I cannot logon. My computer just keeps restart on its own.

Any ideas how to fix this problem? Thanks

Sorry, I forgot to mention that I have disabled System Restore sometime ago. :(

Repair Installation did not work. I did boot from CD and did exactly what you said; however, my computer still reboots itself every time.

When Safemode starts, it will ask you if you want to continue in safe mode or use System Restore to restore your computer to an earlier time. So restore your system back to a point before you installed BitDefender, it SHOULD work, of course, I can't promise it will. If it does then run a registry cleaner, http://www.ccleaner.com/ to see if there are any traces of it left behind (there may or may not be).

At what point did it seem like a GOOD IDEA to disable system restore? No wonder IT folk pull their hair out.

Well, prepare to lose your files because the only other solution is to completely wipe your drive and reinstall Windows. And for the love of... leave System Restore ON THIS TIME. Geeez.

It's up to you if you want to take the time, resources (money) and backup your files which can range from $30 to $500 depending on which route you take.

you should attempt utilizing your get well/boot disk to get around the booting situation. It sounds like once you uninstalled BitDefender, it took a number of your platforms information with it or corrupted your start up information. in case you do not have the disk I "ought to" attempt to unplug the RAM and the BIOS battery to restart the motherboard which take about 15 seconds, then plug it in to verify if it fairly works. If that doesn't artwork manage the manufacture or living house windows to get a sparkling boot disk in case you do not have it.
