People denegrate what they do not understand.
Those people are ignorant, and you shouldn't take their criticism seriously. just pray for them, as they are obviously depressed and are lashing out against you.

People are ignorant and should go to a Catholic church before they make such hateful statements. I did and have found that there are many wonderful people in the church that truly reflect Christ. I am not Catholic and it is not for me, but I know that there are true believers in the church as there are fakes. Religion is not the same as actually following Jesus' teachings. Don't get caught up in their games and be like them.
The Catholic church has many obstacles from the past to overcome. Be the shining example to the people who judge you and educate those who will listen, the others will perish on their own. Don't let it shake your faith. Perhaps you can turn their statements back to them to provide evidence. There are reasons that many Protestants feel there is idol worship and there is within the Catholic church. That doesn't mean that everyone is involved. Again, RELIGION=MAN MADE RITUALS AND BELIEFS and has nothing to so with being a TRUE christian. Walk YOUR talk and don't worry about those who are caught up in their social clubs.
This is not unique to your faith. The same haters will bash anyone that do not play the same RELIGION as themselves. Just browse the Q&As on this site. Know this, that they will be judged as they have judged. If you know that you are on the path that is right for you then walk in it.
May God richly bless you!!!!

There is an enormous amount of anti-catholic bigotry in the United States. There have been a number of protestant ministries that have spread horrible stories about the catholic church. Chick Tracts has spewed forth some of the worst lies.
Now, I am an atheist. If you think there is anti-catholic bigotry you should see what I put up with! (especially living in Texas) Despite being an atheist, the crap you are getting makes me sick. I don't like lies and ignorance. I am sorry you are being treated this way. Keep your chin up.

These things that you have experienced are certainly awful.
And no - Catholics are not isolated - all Christians are experiencing bigotry and hatred these days.
Just read some of this board for a couple of hours. More than half of the respondents and questions are anti Christian and blatantly bigoted.
The reason it's becoming more prevalent, of course, is because it has been prophesied that in the last days we will suffer great persecution. And dear - trust me - this is only the tip of the ice burg.... it's going to become a lot worse in the days to come.
I am not Catholic, I am a Christian.
Peace to you

Nah, I think this anti-Catholic sentiment that you're seeing is just one variety of the popular liberal anti-Christian rhetoric.
I'm Christian, but not Catholic. My church has been seeing hateful behavior aimed in our direction since the 1800's!!! It's nothing new to us, but as you've pointed out, it still doesn't make it hurt less.

sadly it is. It's funny because there are way more catholics than all the other denominations put together.... most Protestant people I've known despise catholics... Trust me, I would know... my whole family is catholic. I've dated many non-catholic girls and all their parents twinge when they hear that my family is catholic.

WRONG...quite frankly I know of NO other mainstream Christian church that hates Catholics. This is a lie someone has convinced you of.
My minister, in the United Methodist Church, is a former Catholic. She switched only because she had the call to ministry. We not only discuss the importance of our Marys, but we understand the suffering of Jesus. Catholics are not low class. Stand up for your beliefs.

I'm Wiccan, but I was raised Nazarene and I was definitely taught that Catholics aren't going to Heaven. I have no idea why the animosity, but I can only assume it's because a lot of protestant denominations have a "small fish, large pond" mentality here in the American Bible Belt.

Most people love to believe that what they have is the best. Like their children, their religion, their earthly possessions, and their race.
I believe that the Bible teaches that the true description of a Christian, is one who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and believes that He is God's only begotten
Son, who gave His life for their sins.
That Jesus, is the only way to Heaven and that He told us to love God with all of our hearts, souls and minds and to love others as ourselves.
Jesus is our personal relationship. Religion is not. One cannot go to church. We as Christians, are the church, the body of Christ.
I am not Catholic. My son and his family are. I certainly do not hate them. I love them.

Anti-Catholicism is totally accepted. But you should take heart! Jesus told us this would happen.
You have the stupid chick tracts, Dave Hunt, and scores of fundamentalist preachers out there lying their butts off about us, and these people just lap it up without ever doing their own research. Don't let it get you down.
BTW, Catholics ARE Christians.
