Persecution?

The need to tear down others is a concept i will never understand. What makes people think lower of any person regardless of their actions or behavior? Love ,people, is a attribute that this world is missing today ,and we are the cause of its absence.

Yes, love. But love with understanding. True love doesn't go along with anything anybody does. True love tells people the truth. True love distinguishes between right and wrong. True love for a parent is to correct and sometimes discipline their children. True love for friends is to tell the truth and tell the other where they are messing up.

One thing though is that many people confuse defense of one's position as the tearing down of another.

The largest problem is the idea of exclusivity; the belief that because you believe yourself correct, that everyone else must be wrong, or worse, evil.

Many claim to "love the sinner but hate the sin", when they condemn whole portions of society, strive to deny them civil rights, and attempt to legislate them into dark corners. That's not love.

If you wish to love people, put your money where your mouth is, accept them. You can still teach your children what you feel to be right and wrong, but you don't have to legislate against those you disagree with.

But love alone is not enough. Can one really say he loves his neighbor while ignoring genocide, oppression, and persecution? True love calls for action. Could you stand by and do nothing when it's your own family being tortured and persecuted?
