We have a standard brick fireplace in our living room, but the decore is southwest meets northwest cabin. I'd like to stucco over the brick. Is that possible and is it a do-it-yourself project?

make sure it's a non-combustible product. Some people sheetrock over brick (that's a no-no)but remember that brick transfers heat. I think most stucco is concrete (?) based so it should be fine.

Sure you can. As far as a DIY project, I'd say for the experienced or for someone who follows experienced advice it's possible. Some people have certain talents for specific construction tasks, but very few people are talented in several areas of expertise. Good workers always make it look easier then it really is.

Yes, Home improvement stores have various suggestion. Paint on or trowel on and the paint is tintable.
