Well, he/she have to have a handicap of 2 and won some tournaments. If his/hers tournament performance is out standing the host of the tournament will provide a slot in the tournament. You paid for the fuel for your own car, unless you have a sponsor to front you the monies.

It depends on the type of invitational tournament it is, but by definition, you must be invited to an invitational tournament. If it is a local amateur invitational, the handicap limit can be as high as 36 or 40. Country clubs will invited members from neighboring clubs to play. Such invitations are posted on bulletin boards in the clubhouse. If it is a professional tournament, you are not getting in unless you know someone; for example, a sponsor or organizer of the event.
