I give my child $1 for a tooth with any damage and $3 for a tooth that has nothing the matter with it.

Well I like to think $2 a tooth personally. But what I found out from my daughter when she lost her first tooth wasn't how much it was, she was more disappointed she didn't get to see the real tooth fairy. She told me the next day that is what she really wanted and then she pondered what she thought the tooth fairy looked like. On her second tooth she was again disappointed at not seeing the tooth fairy but also she was disappointed that the tooth fairy only gave her dollar bills and not coins. Either way you look at it each child wants something different than your likely giving them anyways. I would recommend keeping it within your means, whatever the amount is, I am convinced the amount doesn't matter at least not until they start to get a little older. As others have noted when I was young I too think it was 25 cents, which I was happy with at the time. Pick what you think feels right, either way you will be right.

i give one dollar per tooth. what i did was go on tooth fairy.org and got stickers to put on the dollars and make them tooth fairy dollars. they run 1.00 a piece for the sticker. my daughter loves them. if you are interested in something like that, write her a note and tell her the printing press is down and you will give her an authentic tooth fairy dollar when it's back up but here's a US dollar in the mean time. i also sprinkle some glitter on the window sill and leave her some crayons or stickers with the dollar. i put the tooth in an envelope with it's position it is in the mouth and the date until i decide where i can put them all.

I tried to give mine a dollar , and she called the tooth fairy "cheap" so she gets 5 dollars each , plus she always saves her money from the tooth fairy ,Christmas ,and anytime else she gets money (( I strongly recommend teaching them to save money)) , she tells me it is my job to buy her things she has done well saving she is 8 yrs old , and has over 9 grand in the bank , she even asks for a couple of dollars at the store , but she puts it in her pocket so she can deposit it ... if the kids are good at saving give them five or more , if they are going to blow it maybe give a little less .. plus my kids know the truth about the tooth fairy , santa , and all of that ....so it is a little easier for me...

My son just lost his first two teeth and he got a dollar each. I have heard that there are some"affluent" tooth fairies out there giving $5...even up to $20 per tooth!!!That's crazy....he's six he'd probably flip over a quarter. So I'd go with a dollar b/c they can lose them in multiples and honestly should they be rewarded with a ton of money thus instilling the something for nothing attitude in our kids?

I have two thoughts on that.
First, What you as a parent can afford, not what the Neighbors can afford. The age of the child and what they are saving for might come into play too.
Second, I Never lied to my kids about Easter Bunnies, Santa's, Tooth Fairies etc.
I felt that if I told one lie, how would they ever trust me with telling the truth when they figured out I had lied about so much for so long???? I am glad I didn't and I have such a close relationship with my now adult children, we have no secrets, and no walls between us to over come.
My grand kids now also know that when they ask a question of any sort, they will get ONLY the TRUTH!

Believe they think that change - 3 or 4 quarters come from tooth fairies - they do not carry around dollars. It's like finding gold!

you could give the child a dollar. it usually depends on how big the tooth is, I would say 50 cents for a medium tooth and 25 for a little tooth.
