Well, I am sorry but it sounds like you may have killed your engine. If you need a new valve cover gasket, this means it is leaking oil. And if your oil light came on, this means that the pump must be sucking air, I doubt the pump went out already on a toyota. Go under the hood and, without engine running, check the oil level on the dipstick. If there is no oil in it, the odds are you blew your engine. Try letting it cool, fill it up with six quarts of oil, and restarting it. IF it still does the same thing, check while it is running what the oil pressure is on the gauge. If it is under 40 then your pump most likely will be bad. If the oil pressure is good, it sounds like you may have cracked a cylinder sleeve or something else internal; This will be a costly fix; engine rebuild or replace. Try also for the check engine light, without engine running, turn the key in th off position, then on position, then off, then on, and this will cause the check engine light to blink, count the number of digits in each code and then get back with us. Also, when this happend, did you happen to see what the engine temp was? Well, good luck, if you still need my help email me at mopar_4__life@hotmail.com

Check your oil, you may be running on the bare minimum.
And if you are running on the bare minimum you better thank your lucky stars that your engine didn't seize and die on you, because for the age of that vehicle, a new Lexus engine can cost at least a couple thousand.

Also, dude get a valve cover gasket, they're cheap. Walk to Kragen if you have to. Pep Boys. Mackenzie. Get one. Better compression.

It might already be toolate though. That sound is no good. NOOO GOOODD!!! But I'm no mechanic... but I certainly wouldn't let my car make that noise. Shame on you...

If your engine has no oil... do you know how to check the oil?
Check the oil and see if you have any. If it's low, add some, depending on how low it is, a pint or two. (Check your car manual for specifications of oil type and capacity)

Take care of your car. It will treat you right if you treat it right.

Once you're sure there's oil, let it sit for a while to get down in there, and then start her up and go on down to Pennzoil or Speedee Oil Change & Tune Up, and get yourself and oilchange. Explain to them what you've experienced, and they can tell you why and what's happened, and if there is any damage. But I'm inclined to think that there may be.

is a good resource for auto info. You can email them your cars symptoms and/or any questions and they'll write back and tell you what your problem is and how much it usually runs to fix it.

Good luck to ya, hope your car's ok.
I just love my car, if I had a child, the kid would probably be jealous as much as baby my car lol (Also a 95. But an Accord)

Oh and, at 160,000 miles, might be a good time to look into a tune up. When last did you get your sparks changed? New wires? Is it automatic or standard? Transmission oil flush might be necessary too.

For now, I'd prioritize the additional oil and/or oil change. Then go with the tune up, focusing on the engine and power/charging system, sparks and then the cooling system if it doesn't need rush attention.

I'm no mechanic or anything, just helped out my dad when I was a girl. I do all the work on my car myself...

Be sure to check out Art though! He's great!
Take it easy,
miR :)

First check your oil. If there is no oil in it check your engine block for cracks or holes. You have probably blown your engine. Do not drive the car for this will only make it worse. If your car still has oil in it it may not be blown so change the oil and check it for small chunks of metal. And definitely have it towed to a repair shop because even if your engine isn't blown it will be if you drive it like this.

i own a repair shop, and it sounds like your oil pump just went out on it,that's why it was making the noise you heard coming from it,you probably shouldn't drive it any more until you can get it to a shop ,and have it checked out real good, there's a good possibility that there may already be some severe engine damage done to it,good luck with it,i hope this helps.

If it is a clicking noise are just one solid click check the connections are try and jump it off. If it sounds like a sewing machine turning over then you probably broke the timing chain or belt

You probly need to put OIL in it! I would start with that. It could be computer related issues if you can get it to your local auto zone they can tell you what codes are set.

sound,s bad my friend.................don,t drive it..........have it towed to a reliable repair shop................sound,s like you threw a rod............have it checked out..........may need a rebuilt engine...........evaluate your situation........cost of repair as opposed to purchase of a new or newer vehicle........remember.....it,s 12 year,s old with a lot of mile,s...a new engine won,t cure all that........good luck!
