Whilst walking through the deep forests, Indiana Jones was captured by a fierce but fair tribe. They took him back to their camp and told him that he had the chance to make a single statement. If the statement was true he would be boiled to death in water but if the statement was false he would be fried to death in oil.

What was the statement that our dashing hero made that actually saved his life?

Okay folks, the answer is as guessed (or read elsewhere) by Aaron and I've forgotten (Michelle?).

If his statement is 'I am going to be fried to death in oil' they can't do that as they said that if his statement was true they would boil him in water. They can't do that either as that would mean that his statement was false, which would mean they have to fry him....but they can't do that as his statement would then be true...and ...oh, hopefully you get the idea! Anyway, I liked funny girl's answer and she needs the points...lol.

There might be a few answers to this one:
1. Smile. You're on CCTV
2. Don't you realise I'm actually Harrison Ford?
3. Do you want fries with that?
lol

Please tell me this is not a scene from the new Indiana Jones film!! I know Harrison Ford is getting on in years, but an action film where the baddies stop everything and say 'Say Indie, we'll let you go if you solve this cryptic riddle!' will not be a box office winner!

He said "You are going to fry me in oil"

Since this could not be true or false at once, they let him go

something along the lines of "this statement is false".
if the statement *was* false, then he would be telling the truth.
if the statement was true, then he would also be telling the truth.
right? riiiight?!
