That depends on the persons pain tolerance level. Usually the inside of the upper arm, stomach around the belly button, lower back, and any other very soft or bony region tends to be the most painful area. Yet if you are getting a small tattoo, I wouldn't worry about extreme pain. Plus, if you are worried about it hurting a whole bunch, you usually release a lot of adrenaline due to the fear, and will not feel any pain any way. Good Luck!!

I have only had the outsides of my biceps tattooed but the closest thing I can compare it to .....it's like having tiny little sparks falling down on you over and over. They go out as soon as they hit the skin...but there's always more of them falling and hitting.. It doesn't hurt so much as it is annoying. The next day (and for about 4 to 6 days later) its going to feel like a sunburn. The key is to relax, listen to music or talk to a friend to distract you. Use the best artist you can find. go to my 360 page and click on the dragon tattoo in my blog. My dragon was 12 hours old in that picture...no scabs..no bleeding.
I am doing 8 to 9 hours under the needles next weekend so I've been doing my research.....here is the best article I could find on pain as charted by body location

I hope this helps

Since everyone has a different tolerance for pain, no one can really tell you how much getting a tattoo hurts. For me, I honestly thought it was going to be alot worse than it was. Really, if you just relax and maybe have a friend or family member there to talk to, you should be ok. Just remember, no pain no gain and in the end your beautiful art work is well worth any pain you may experience. I suggest maybe talking to someone you know personally who has a tattoo and getting their opinion.

Have you ever played with a teething puppy? No worse than that. The color parts of mine I never even felt at all, just felt the pressure and vibration. About 1/2 hour later it felt like a sunburn for a while (also not my idea of extreme pain), then in a few days it itched, which was probably the worst to deal with.

Getting a tattoo doesn't hurt at all. I have one on my left shoulder blade, my left hip bone (it's like 4"x5") and one all across my lower back, it's about (11"x4"). None of these tattoos hurt me. It is all mindpower. When I am getting tattooed, I just think about everything in the world that pisses me off, and it's like getting your anger out through what people would call "pain", but it really doesn't hurt all that bad, by the way, no pain, no game... right?

I've got a tattoo there; I found it considerably more uncomfortable than, say, my upper arm, but by that I mean wincing-a-bit uncomfortable rather than screaming-in-pain uncomfortable. Generally having a tattoo done feels like a hot scratching sort of sensation; in this location I found it felt a bit sharper, because the skin on the inner arm is quite tender. But it was perfectly manageable.
Hope this helps - enjoy your tattoo experience!

Have you ever crashed a banana seat bike on a gravel driveway? The road rash you received , and the healing of enormous scabs the next few days , well... it kinda feels like that. (The real pain of a tattoo sets in hours later and lasts a few days during the healing process. view my tatts on myspace. tat2girl04.)

It really depends on the person and where you get it. I have one on the back of my neck, one by my spine, and two on my sholder. The one on the back of the neck hurt the most. So really some tattoos do hurt and some don't.
