After the Marine Corps...?

Question

If you got 15 credits towards an associates degree in Criminal Justice, would they give you E-2 when you enlist? If not, how many do you need?

And if you finished getting your associates degree while in the Corps as a 0351 (Machine Gunner), how hard would it be to get a job as a Police Officer?

You don't need the Marine Corps to be a cop. Being a Marine will give you preference though when you apply for a position as a police officer. You don't need a degree to become a police officer, all you have to do is get the 60 credits required within the 5 year after you're hiring date.

I had almost no credits when I left the Marine Corps, and I was an avionics technician. But when I left, I was recruited by NYPD, LAPD, FBI (as a forensic electronics technician), the Atlanta PD, and various others when I left. They are looking for military people in general, because we have all received a great deal of security training, we are already used to the lifestyle and working in a strict, structured environment, so being military police is not a requirement. They will make sure you get the training that you need.

I've never heard of the Marine Corp giving rank prior to enlisting. You earn your rank with time in grade and performance.

pretty sure you need 25 credits... plus you dont always need a degree to be a cop... it just looks good.
