To begin with, hon, it's "Tarot". They are harmless, in spite of the silly superstitions of some people. They're a nice tool for meditation and personality analysis. Contrary to popular (and false) ideas, it's not about "foretelling the future".
Look on Amazon and search on "Tarot". Start with a simple deck like the "Universal Waite Tarot". Find a beginner's book. Then just start with one of the simple spreads there and work on it yourself.
It's easy and interesting. I have about twenty decks, some of which I just have for the artwork. Pay no attention to the uninformed people on here. Good luck.

They take practice, that's for sure. If you didn't get a book with your deck, either find a good book or a website that can help you understand the meaning of the individual cards. It helps to keep the cards near/on you for a while if you can (sleep with them under your pillow, carry them in your pocket, shuffle them) -- it infuses them with your energy and makes your readings more accurate.
Mostly you have to focus when you're shuffling and dealing them out, and you have to understand that they don't necessarily mean what you think at first - each card can stand for different things, and having that book will really be a big help whle you're learning!
