Took me over 3 years, but I FINALLY got the courage to go to a dermatologist for my acne scars.

I hated it.

The doctor was mean, he made me feel like a freak. He asked what I was there for and I said I had taken accutane but now have scars. And all he said was "And......????" Like I was stupid or something!

I almost cried, I had tears in my eyes. I said "And, I want to do something about them". He sighed and said "Lets take a look" and shined a light on me, and said "yeah, you have some moderate scarring. We don't treat that here, you have to go to a plastic surgeon."

He then gave me some retin-a & a referal to a plastic surgeon and sent me on my way. It was so HARD for me to even go there, and tell him something I am so embarrassed about and I felt like a freak at a freak show (There was some nurse in the room taking notes too).

I drove home crying, I've always hated doctors & this visit just made me even more scred of them. What did I do wrong?

nothing. the doctor wasn't right to do what he did. it sounds like the doctor that you went to, doesn't like his jobs. it is very unfortunate that doctors act the way that they do sometimes, doctors forget about treating their patients with respect and I think that was very unprofessional that he said what he said. he could have said what he said in a polite professional manner. As a gynecologist, I treat my patients with respect and I listen to what they are going through and I empathize with them and I laugh with my patients and I tell them that they can call me anytime with concerns. I make feel at "home" in my office, when they visit me. I don't believe in rush rush to see other patients, if they are a good doctor, they will take time to explain things to you and to put you at ease and they will be open with you and listen to your concerns and needs. This doctor was not a very good professional doctor with no mannerism. I am sorry that you had to go through that. Not all doctors are that way.

Some doctors have the personality of a pit viper. Don't take it personally. If he's a jerk, it's his problem, not yours. He has to live with it, and you don't.
Go to the plastic surgeon but get a recommendation from someone you know so you don't have such a crummy experience.

It's a shame so many doctor's have that kind of attitude because without their patients, they wouldn't have a job.

YOU didnt do a single thing wrong. doctors are supposed to be senstive, kind, and helpful. this guy was a big jerk but not all doctors out there are. do a little research online because i hear there are some non-prescription products out there that reduce the appearance of scarring.

I take it in case you paintings in London you have some variety long term visa and which you pay taxes. for that reason or the case of your emergency, pass to an NHS twist of destiny and Emergency branch. There ought to be one extremely interior sight. The NHS factors loose wellbeing care provider to united kingdom electorate as money are raised by employing taxing, no longer coverage measures. i do no longer understand the words of your visa and taxing, yet in an emergency you need to be alright to apply the provider.

Nothing.
Your doctor was an ******.
Dont take it to heart. If he is affiliated with a hospital, call them and complain. Here you are putting $$ in his pocket and he is treating you like dirt.
