There is nothing wrong with it. I met my fiance online and we have a connection I have NEVER had with any of the men i've dated in the past. Some people talk mess about meeting someone online and dating them, but really and truly (for me, anyway) I dont go out anywhere to meet men. I dont go clubbing and didn't want a man who was always in the club either. I'm not much of a drinker, so bars were out, too. I go to grad school, go to work, etc. So Im not able to get out and socialize like many people. Forget what people say...and try it. What do you have to lose? It's MUCH safer than it used to be.
On the other hand...do your research and find a site that is good and that you've heard about. Some of the smaller sites are not as good at filtering or they might release info. When you start talking to someone, take your time and always give your cellphone number just in case you have to change it. If you meet, meet in a public place and always let someone know where your going, who your going with, and most importantly the name and phone number of the person your meeting.
Good Luck!!

For guys, it is stupid because 3/4 of the girls that you will get responses from are either Russians trying to get money from you or pron sites trying to make you think that you have a shot with some beautiful sexy woman.
For girls, there are a lot of nice guys looking to meet someone but there are also a lot of wierdos out there looking to do some scary things. I'd wager that about 2/3 of the guys you meet are only interested in hooking up and running off.
Both sides have some decent people on them. I met my best friend ever on a dating site and I have met a few really nice girls. I would say that out of 20 responses I get from my ads at least 15 are from "fake" people.
Do yourself a favor and think long and hard before joining and internet dating site and be prepared to be let down and maybe even a little emotionally hurt.

I think it is online (bad joke).
But seriously, it is not always as it seems. You may think you're talking to, for example, a sixteen-year-old aspiring singer and supermodel in Vermont, but it could actually be some sick, obese, and obscene 92.5 year old living in a cardboard box in North Dakota. Call me Captain Obvious, but people gonk other people online all the time, and it just makes me sick how these things tend to happen every day. So believe me: Online dating is not right. TRY TO MEET REAL PEOPLE INSTEAD!!! NOT a 78 year old cattle brusher from Antarctica, not that poster on your bedroom door, not even someone's avatar; real people, not oline people.

I think its amazing. I met my boyfriend of two years online and we are still going strong, mind you we talk every night on the phone and I visit him every month or every other month. I live in Canada, he lives in the USA and eventually I plan to move there with him. It really depends on the people involved. It can be really hard because you miss them but you seem to make more use of your time when you are together.

Be leery only because the recipient can tell you whatever you want to hear. I am a victim of it. I fell head over heels in love with someone online, who walked out of my life as quickly as he walked in. Be very pre-cautious. Ask for a picture and research the person before your feeling take over.
