Yes, children can and will take them out of the socket! My daughter would go straight for the sockets every time she got a chance when she started walking. I couldn't understand how she pulled the protectors out so quickly. I ended up changing every plug in the house to the socket plates that you have to swivel the front cover to plug something in and it closes automatically when somethings unplugged. She lost interest almost immediately. Good Luck.

My brother, now almost 20, choked on the safety plug in daycare when he was 1 1/2! The daycare had to call her to come take him to the doctor. Nobody believed my mom when she told this story, but since then, she makes me keep an extra close eye on my daughter when shes near the plugs - shes 13 months. It is very possible to choke on those, I'm glad your daughter is ok.

We have four children and eight grand kids. We never had a problem with any of them. I do not know of anyone with kids who had such a problem.
I could be that we started off telling them "NO" whenever they went near the plugs or the outlets. NOW they have inserts for the outlets, but it is up to you to stop any kids from putting the plugs in their mouths.
Stop them NOW.

They have full sized covers. When you plug something in you have to slide the plug "holes" to fit the plug into the outlet. If a child pulls a plug out the cover slides to keep them from getting shocked. I think you can get them from Home Depot or Lowes.
For future reference, anything small enough to fit through a toilet paper tube is small enough to choke your child.

How did she take it off the outlet. There is no way she could've taken it off. It's hard for me to get them off, I have to use a butter knife or something else to take them off. If it was just laying on the floor or in her reach then yeah she could've choked that's why they should be on the outlet and not laying around anywhere. Like I said, I don't think she would've been able to take it off the plug.

I know what you are talking about! We take ours out occasionally to plug in the vacuum or something and they are totally a choking hazard! Not only do you have to remember to put them back in the socket but you have to keep them out of reach in the meantime!
