I'm an alto, and i'm 18, so i'll write some of my up beat song lists, also, i have a really unusually large range for my belt, so some of these songs go higher than a normal belt but can sound beautiful with parts of the head voice in it too...

Colors of the Wind is a hard song isn't it? I'm not sure what song would be fun to sing. I believe I am an alto as well because everyone has a singing voice and I have to say I do not sing well. I like to sing Christina Aguilera and Jojo. I would actually recommend Jojo, Vanessa Hudgens, and Evanescence. They are a bit easier actually. I actually do those fairly ok. Good luck and have fun singing.

When do you have to sing? If you can wait until next month, the sheet music for "The Alto's Lament" will be available on the website I have listed for you.
The second link is where you can hear the song (at the bottom of the page). It is absolutely hysterical!
If that's too late for you, keep it in mind for another time!
Otherwise, I once sang "I Could Fall in Love" by Selena.

Alright, here's a list of songs from not so well known shows, so they will be better respected than if you sang something from rent or wicked or what not.
I'm happy that you are singing colours of the wind... its hard, but have fun!!
Here we go:
"10 cents a dance" from Simple Simon
"I wanna be bad" from Good News
"I wish I were in love again" from Babes in Arms (I think)
"Look to the Rainbow" from Finnians Rainbow
"Necessity" from Finnians Rainbow
"The gentleman is a dope" from... I don't know.
Those are a few, ranging from low jazz to a mezzo head voice piece. Look them up, or something.
Have fun, good luck with what you are doing!

Try Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind." Its a great song if you are a "power alto." Obviously kick it into your octave. My best friend is an alto and she can just belt that song out. Its got a good swing to it, too.
Good Luck.

i'm familiar with the musical lease, yet i've got by no ability actual seen it or understand the story. yet theres this track caught in my head that would sound especially in an Alto voice...I forgot the call. inspite of the incontrovertible fact that it rather is from The Sound Of music. "...i'm sixteen occurring 17, i understand that i'm naive. Fellows I meet might tell me i'm candy, and willingly i've got faith..." chuffed EASTER! stable success!!

"Without you" from Rent. Let me think... It always depends on the style. Ella Fitzgerald songs can be lower. Anything sung by Rosie in Bye Bye Birdie.

How about "TheWind beneath my wings" by Bette Midler, performed in the movie "Beaches." Powerful, tricky and goes along with "wind" in your other song!
