Grilled Steak Soft Tacos Recipe #59812
This can be broiled or cooked on the grill. Forget about Taco Bell's grilled steak carne asada soft tacos when you can make much better at home!

time to make 28 min 20 min prep


20 ounces top sirloin steaks
For the Marinade
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
2 teaspoons cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
For the Tacos
10 8-inch flour tortillas
2 1/2 cups shredded lettuce
1 1/4 cups finely shredded cheddar cheese
3/4 cup sour cream
2 small tomatoes, finely chopped
1 (8 ounce) bottle taco sauce

1. Mix together ingredients for marinade in a small bowl.
2. Place steak in a dish or plastic bag and pour marinade over it and refrigerate for several hours, or overnight.
3. Bring steak out of refrigerator 1 hour before cooking.
4. Prepare grill or broiler.
5. Drain the meat, saving the marinade.
6. Grill meat 3-4 minutes per side (for med-rare), basting occasionally with marinade, or cook longer if desired.
7. Slice meat thinly and set aside.
8. Wrap tortillas in a towel and warm in a microwave; or if desired, warm briefly in a skillet and then wrap in a towel to keep warm.
9. To assemble taco, place approximately 2 ounces of meat, 1/4 cup lettuce, 2 tbsp cheese, 1 tbsp sour cream, a small amount of tomatoes and some taco sauce on each tortilla.
10. Serve immediately.


You can substitute with other things as well, such as roasted pork, seasoned ground beef, seasoned chicken, fried fish, etc.

That's like asking how to make a sandwich.
It's just a soft tortilla with whatever you want on it.
There's ways to make it "authentic"; but just remember authentic Mexican is not always to an American's liking.
Maybe you should repost....
I need to know how to make soft chicken tacos, or
I need to know how to make fajita tacos.
You'll also find thousand of tacos filling recipes on the internet.

To be traditional, use corn tortillas. You can heat them up either on a hot dry pan, or in the microwave wrapped in a paper towel. This makes them soft, and otherwise they will crack in half. Then put on the usual taco fixings, and you are done!

Use soft Tortilla instead of hard and use the same ingredients. I usually microwave the shells for about 10 seconds so they aren't real doughy.
