Me and my girlfriend have been together just over a year now. we've had our rough patches i'll admit we're great..
unfortunately, the feeling didnt last long
a friend of mine, and a well liked and popular guy has started telling my girlfriend that im a bad boyfriend and that i dont trust her..
i cant exactly talk about it to him because no matter how hard i can try, he will always be popular and everyone will always take my side.. also, he's quite built, but very sensitive - which is his weakness
my girlfriend complains enough that she hasnt got many friends, nothing to do with me may i add, so i cant just take him away from her..

Sounds like he's trying to make a move on your girl! I would not say anything to her, but I would ask him why he thinks and says such things about you. Not in a confrontational way, but explain that you're not like that, and you feel hurt that he say these things about you.
If he is really such as sensitive guy, he might try to be more considerate of how he is making you feel!

And another point is that... I'm sure you want an loyal trusting girlfriend...not some girl that flirts around and believes every other thing some guy says about you???!!! So why run after a girl that doesn't give a 100% into your relationship...and believe me if she really loves you she wouldn't be doing the things she is doing right now!!

solution #1 make a storng gang to beat up that guy
solution# 2 tell girl friend to be away from him casue he is not a good guy
solution#3 you have the ability to control you own girlfriend, (as you guys are together for 1 years)
solution#4 spend more time with you girlfriend ( as much as you can) . always keep her engaged in something
solution#5 go to that guy and tell her why is he doing this and manage him (if you can )

So whats your question here? Who cares about what that popular guy says about you. He doesnt know you and he cant tell anyone about how you feel for you gf. You should tell your gf to not listen to the negative things he's been telling her because its all rumors or he just assumes those things.

Lay down the law and tell her that if she cared about u and believed in your relationship she wudnt be listenin to other peoples opinions and trust u..
u hav to lay down the law sumtimes not in a chauvinistic way.. plus we like it when our men who arent usually 100% domineering standup for themselves.. its sexy to a strong woman lol.. sure she can be friends with da dude. but let her know WHO her man is and who she shud be loyal to and thinkin about
