I read a question in pets from a sincere man, asking a question he truly needed the answer to. Sky_nightly18blackey.

Because of his phrasing and spelling and perhaps his bluntness, I was both offended and upset by what I thought was the intent of his question. I flagged him.

Then I learned that his question was the last of three in a row where most, not all, people jumped on him, just as I did.

So I dug into his profile and found him to be honest and simply spoken, a man I believe knows more about his field than I ever will.

I reread his questions with a new understanding of who he might really be and was mortified by my and other answers, and by my rude and hasty behaviour.

I deleted my last answer to him and apologized, then offered a sincere if inadequate answer to his question.

He mentioned that he always gets rude answers and that is why he doesn't come on very often, only when he really has a problem. To face this abuse, he must really care.

Now what?

Love your style.
Just for that I went to his question and supported him. We should all do it.
Thanks for reminding me that people have heart and can tell everyone on the internet "I am sorry. I made a mistake. Help me fix it."

You've done a lot more than others would. Good on you for having the integrity and courage to admit you were wrong and apologize for your actions.
If you are concerned about flagging this person, you could try to email yahoo and explain your actions. Unfortunately, I think that is about the only other thing you can do. You can't change anything that others on this forum do, you can only account for yourself. It is VERY easy to be rude on the internet when the person you are directing your comments to aren't standing in front of you.
I wish others were more like you. Take care!

You apologized and posted a question so all would know of your wrong doing, I think it is enough. It is far more than others would do.
To be honest who knows if he sells or not I mean why become a registered breeder if you are not selling. A lot of people will claim something like that after being berated by others for their irresponsible breeding practices.

The problem with alot of the answerer's here is that they don't take the time to really read the question. And if they don't know then they should just skip the question and move on to one that they do know. I applaud your honesty and I think this man appreciated your apology.
But to be honest he could have been a bit less angry with the question.

Always look before you leap? Don't so it in the future? Contrition is the best you can offer in this situation and future caution in jumping on others for what might seem offensive to you one way, but innocuous another.

You have done all that you can. It is good to learn from your mistakes (we all make them) and it takes a big person to actually admit to them and try to address their own mistakes. All you can do now is try to not jump to conclusions. Sounds like you are wise; at the very least on your way to wisdom.

That was nice of you. You did the right thing. You should be proud of yourself, not many people would do that. I do not think you need to do anything more. Maybe in the future leave a kind message to him when he posts a question. Put him in your contact list-be his fan!
