I'm taking Prozac. Can I drink alcoholic beverages while I'm on it?

You should not drink alcohol while taking Prozac. You might start seeing things and having bad nightmares. Or you may want to harm yourself since Prozac alone alters your way of thinking.

It's silly to take an anti-depressant and drink a depressant at the same time. Alcohol is a depressant. I know that it makes you feel real happy and fun while you're drunk. But in all reality, it's in the "downer" category. It messes with your serotonin, while prozac is trying to level your serotonin levels to regulate your mood.

alcohol is a depressant u'd just be counteracting the purpose of the prozac and it'll make u sick.
i wouldn't if i were u
Ask your doctor. But really it's up to you but you're not helping your situation by doing it. Thumbs down for those who know? Ya okay....

i logged on to my prescription insurance web site and did a drug interaction with alcohol and prozac and nothing came up so it should be ok, however it will probbaly increase, drowseyness, however you should contact your pharmacy to be 100 percent sure it is safe

very well actually, lol when i took it, it just messed me up more, just be carefull, wait at least an hour or two after taking your pill to even start drinking that will help
