That seems to me to be a unique but accurate analogy. I would prefer to keep the vaccine and the seatbelts.

Well I've never heard anyone in my life state that they drive dangerously because they have a seatbelt on. A seatbelt won't save your life if you get into a head on collision at 60 miles an hour with a semi truck. So, no, the HPV vaccine doesn't encourage anything, let alone dangerous sex. Cause just like with the seatbelt thing, you can still get AIDS, syphillis, or chlamydia even if you have the HPV vaccine. Sorry, your logic is faulty.

I think it depends on your definition of "dangerous sex". To a prude, all sex is dangerous and this country is nothing if not prudish (and I presume the question comes form America - geez, does no other country on this planet have this debate? do all the rest just see this as a simple public health question and give kids the immunization? Why must everything in this joint be a moral question?).

Wouldn't helmets encourage crashing? Wouldn't parachutes encourage jumping (oh, wait, they do)? In that vein, don't all vaccines encourage irresponsible attitudes toward disease transmission? I don't know about you guys, but my kids try to find Rubella and Diptheria whenever possible.

Thank you for that very excellent analogy. I will be using it next time I'm in an argument about the vaccine.
