Well, having been using pc's for the past 24 years, I feel that it's just a little too late to change to Macs and have to learn things over again.

You can't tell us what's right for us and what's wrong! See, that's exactly one of the reasons why I don't go for macs, their users get tagged as "annoying fanboys". "annoying fanboys" are known to be active advertisers for Apple, and I wouldn't be surprised if their bots, or just brainwashed people. They're just nuts. Macs also cost a pretty penny, and don't have much over PC's besides the fact that they're "licensed" to allow OS X on it. Truth is, is that Apple want's to own you, and your tech needs, by making everything exclusive, so they can get all the money. How greedy is that? I don't want to be owned by them, no matter how cool it looks like. Besides, I've used OS X a lot, and I prefer using Windows a whole lot more. There's only a few things that's interesting in a mac, but that's it. I'm going to get a sleek Sony Vaio, and it's way better than a mac will ever be.

This is because of the age-old convenience factor that affected Betamax and CBS's version of color TV. While Macs may have been easier and less prone to mishaps, IBM and other PC machines had an open format that allowed more than one brand of machine to run the same software and therefore making it a more profitable investment, especially for independent software developers who could write more stuff for PCs, while Apple had to license their GUI system in order to allow developers to write for Macs.

And Microsoft, like it or not, took advantage of the technological conflicts in the ability to read certain file formats to sell their operating systems to PC manufacturers and with IBM's popularity in the 1980s helping things, doing so made their operating systems DOS and Windows the standard in most settings.

One other key problem is price, Macs tend to cost more than PCs. This is I think largely in part to the fact that they try to be all in one machines, which in many cases isn't exactly what people seek out. Most of us want to have flexibility in terms of what we really need, and as a result a PC often ends up being the more preferred machine based upon the upgradeable options for a desktop, a wider selection of choice in terms of cameras, graphics cards, and whatever suits us best. Best of all, you don't always need a new computer.

And lastly, what types of computers are commonly in the workplace? Unless you work at a public school or a graphic design firm, expect the PC to be there, because at a time when there were a number Apple, Commodore, and Atari machines being released with BASIC language, PCs were the first computers to allow more to be done in terms of how many programs you can run in a session (but not all at once at first), as well as the upgrade capability that the aforementioned machines didn't have.

Bottom line, the more the better when it came to getting the job done. Not only that, when you have a PC in the workplace, you may want the same computer in your home, what better way to work on the same files on the same software? (the internet had changed that, but even though Mac discs read PC discs, it's not the same the other way around).

If Macs were released a year before IBM's first machine, maybe there would have been no conflicts with software licensing and Apple's name tag would have been more appreciated. Maybe then they could have had an more easily upgradeable machine to compete with PC computers. But it didn't happen that way, Apple messed up, Steve Jobs got big headed and forgot what it meant to have a usable product not in terms of it's friendly nature but it's ability to mean something in the larger picture of things.

Because most PC users have never used a Mac, especially not a new Intel Mac with Mac OS X Tiger. Most PC users lack the knowledge of the Mac platform to make an educated decision when buying a new computer. PC users will switch to Mac, but Mac users will never switch to a PC, unless forced to by their company. Although, that can't happen anymore, as any new Mac can run Windows natively. This is drawing old Mac users that have been forced out using Macs back to the Macintosh. I think a lot more people will be taking notice of the Mac, now that more people than ever are switching. Also, I'm quite certain that Leopard will put Vista to absolute shame, as if Tiger hasn't already done so. Of all websites, Apple's website now ranks 13th in terms of traffic. This means that people are curious. I've read about quite a few Vista users taking back their new Vista PCs in return for a Mac. This is a great thing. People are finally catching on.

macs are way too expensive for a mere mortal like myself, and they have limited software compatability

I tried macs and didn't like them. They don't let you reconfigure them any way you choose and the software is limited.
