A few simple guidelines:

+ Start with a joke
+ Be self-depricating--that way, you can be funny without hurting any feelings or falling flat
+ THANK EVERYONE
+ Why are you all having dinner together? Have you been friends for years or are you trying to establish a new relationship with all of them? Is it someone's birthday? Be sure to mention whatever occasion, big or small, that brought you together for dinner.
+ Finally, KEEP IT SHORT. Your guests will be full of food and good cheer, but they won't stay that way if you talk at them for twenty minutes. Get to the point, be charming, and then sit down.

Good Luck at your dinner!!

Be sure to thank everyone for coming and you hope they've enjoyed themselves. Invite them to stay as long as they'd like to enjoy themselves some more.
