hi, i have 3 cats 2 males and 1 female. they were all chosen at a shelter. the boys, black jack, a pure black with gold eyes, and mikos a long hair gray and white with green eyes were adopted at the same time in july 2004, jack was around 5 and mikos was around 4 at the time. 2 years later cathy, our 12 yr old female died. my son went to the same shelter and adopted a pure while female with blue eyes who is deaf. she is also around 5.
the boys acclimated well. but trudy was obviously abused as she hid in places i did not think she could fit. it took several months but she now is out with the boys. she prefers my son to anyone else.
i think adopting from the shelter is great!! think of how much time and effort you are going to put into them. if they are alone a lot sometimes 2 kittens from the same litter are a good choice. always hold and play with the cat before signing papers. is she playful, is she scared? trudy took a long time and a lot of patience.
medium age cats are litter trained and usually sociable, well as sociable as cats get. lol!! usually the shelter will have some background info on the cat. make sure to read it as it should contain useful info. all 3 cats were spayed/neutered.
i am a big proponent of shelter animals.
hope this helps. julianne

You should adopt from a pet shelter. They come neutered/spayed already. Plus there are many other benefits of owning a cat from a shelter. Check it out sometime.

You sound like a child...did you asked your mother for permission? You have any friends or someone that could donate kitty for you? The kitty must be at least a few weeks old.

i think you should ask your mom before you buy a cat. your question looks like you might be a child? cats are great pets, but the other poster is correct....never buy a pet from a store...breeders are best, but, my cats have all been strays, that wandered up from God knows where...or rescues, from
shelters....
peace, tammy
