Definitely! Volvos are hardy cars; if you take proper care of them, and don't get in any accidents, they last next to forever. Even for such high mileage, that price sounds like a bargain.
Before you buy, have it inspected by a third party. Many service stations will do this for $60-100. If the car doesn't have any serious problems, buy.

Once I bought a Volvo that had about 150,000 miles on it ...it ran great when it ran, looked good too. Something was always going wrong with...mostly the starter...they could never seem to fix it. Each time I took it to the shop it was expensive to fix and it was in the shop A LOT! So based on my experience, I would say no. Buy a Honda...I drove my first one for 11 years and now I am on two and three which are 7 and 9 years old and doing better than great.

It depends entirely on how well it was cared for.
you can forget these stories of "300,000 miles". That's like saying people live to be 100......yeah, a few do, and even if your Volvo lives to be 100, the last ten years aren't going to be fun.
If it's a pristine car with no problems, and if it checks out after a thorough mechanical inspection, you might take a chance on it, but I'd bail out of it at 225,000---which is the statistically likely life-span of just about any car.
You can keep ANY car running for 300,000 miles if you want to pay a fortune to do it, so the mileage is not the point. The point is the cost per mile.

yes. properly kept Volvo's purchased at these mileages are good values. second 2 series now has 400k on it third is right at 200k nor [only had a few months] 850's change the timing belt replace all tensioner and idler bearings and the gas tensioner[hand grenade] and don't forget the water pump[timing belt driven] note ign coil for white burn spots and transmission torque converter seal for leakage [service trans fluid every 30k ] if you change the flame trap every third oil change the engine seals may last forever.[3000 mile changes] have car checked over by a trusted mechanic before you buy [you may be able to negotiate a even better price]

on the floor this appears like a first rate deal yet once you look deeper you stumble on that the S80 replaced into frustrating, noticeably for the period of the 1st 2 years of its existence, 1999 and 2000. Transmission problems and electric gremlins abounded in those automobiles and it took Volvo some years to get them solved, if ever. i could be very careful and intensely careful of this automobile. in case you prefer to purchase it, i think of you may insist on having a replica of all the provider archives for it. If the owner can not supply them, stroll away. for my area, i does not purchase any Volvo later than the 940 variety. it quite is in basic terms MY opinion when you consider that i won't communicate for any of the different chuffed Volvo proprietors.

If you are buying from a private owner ask for service records, and ask if you can have your mechanic check it out.If you are buying from a dealer also ask for any available service records and if you can contact the previous owner for a history.ALWAYS ask if you can take the car to your mechanic to have him check it out, that is the most important step in purchasing a used car. Also get a carfax done on the vehicle, that can help trace any accident, salvage,or other hidden history.

Is it a sedan or wagon? Turbo or normal? Has it been maintained to the max? Try to negotiate a better price and make sure a mechanic looks at it first. Yes I would if eveything checks out.
