I recently saw a Smith and Wesson .45ACP semi-auto pistol for $350. Is this a good deal?

I didn't get the model number, but it was in good shape. It was stainless and the type I often see cops carrying (i.e. not M&P and not Sigma).

It's not hot. This is from a reputable dealer which sells a large volume of handguns. They have approximately 200-300 on display. I have found their new guns are generally overpriced, and suspect the same about their used guns. I am just trying to gauge whether or not this is a good deal.

It looks like this model, which was produced in the 1990s.

Depending on its condition this sounds about right, most used guns are 50 to 150 under the price of new, if in good condition, lower if it is apparent that they have been used a lot. My bother purchased a used older model 45 s&w and I think that is about what he paid, it shot great and was very reliable.

good luck and happy shooting

I am not sure about the price. $350 seems decent for a Smith and Wesson, but their auto pistols are not as popular as revolvers. If the new guns are overpriced, I suspect the used ones are as well.

A good place to research is this web page. It's an auction page for firearms. You can get pretty good deals here... but have to have them shipped to an FFL, and they will charge you for this service.

The way I buy weapons is spend what I'm willing to pay, and then forget about it. Somebody will always be able to find a better deal...

Is it a 4506? He might be trying to dump it because it has been there forever or it is just very used. The 4506 is very accurate.

It's about average market price. If you're buying it off an individual and its hot or stolen its WAYYY overpriced.
