I'd tell the ones living with you in case something should happen on his cross country drive and your not available to take the call. Just tell them NOT to tell the bday girl...keep it a secret to everyone else. In fact, why not invite every family member over for cake & surprise them there! good luck

Well--ask him what he wants to do--chances are if one person knows--everyone soon will--unless your family members are extra-great at keeping secrets from one another--especially with everyone being so amped over your daughter's baby, etc--people will be excited and wanting to share fun things--so the news might spread--I'd say let all be surprised--you must be bursting with the news waiting to share it with someone--but if you can stand it--just keep the secret--it will be fun to see everyone's happy reactions!

if he wants nobody to know say nothing. if he doesn't mind as long as she is surprised then invite some family over perhaps and be prepared for a fun dinner or family time together...

surprise everyone. this is his surprise and if he doesn't want anyone to know, you have to keep it that way. you have to respect his wishes and this way you won't ruin his surprise for his sister.
