We have learned the present tense 'first' conjugation, and I would like to know more vocabulary. Does anyone know a place where I could learn some words that are conjugated that way?

I just figured that since I know some basic sentence structures, the best thing to do would be learn some more words, because we basically use the same ones over and over...

First off, your verb means "to read."

Every single Russian verb in its root form ends in "ть." There are a LOT of different ways for verbs to conjugate in Russian. Your verb happens to end in -ать. I won't go into the endless spiel of ways it could be conjugated, because I'm assuming you already know how. But there are many other possible endings (including ить, еть, etc), all of which have irregularities, as with any element of language. I am sure you'll learn this later.
To actually answer your question (sorry :P) there are a number of places. For a list of some common words (and for some extra help on conjugation), there is http://www.ielanguages.com/russian.html. At http://masterrussian.com/index-10.shtml, all of the links are very helpful. Rustran.com is good for short translations, but do not depend completely on translators, as they can often provide bad grammar or downright wrong translations. Also, there are a great number of good Russian dictionaries online.
Good luck :)

um i think that verb is to read....in that form there are several other verbs conjugated in a very similar way... to dance (tancivatc fonetically in english) to watch to learn/teach (uuchatc) and to play (igratc). Sorry I dont know how to type in russian....check on google for russian translations and you should find some verbs...there ae many conjugated in the first. However watch out to make sure the spelling is not in the reflexive form...it will throw you off.

You picked the most common very conjugation (listed as 1a).

читать (to read)
понимать (to understand)
знать (to know)
плавать (to swim)

Just open up an English/Russian dictionary on Russian side and you'll be able to pick out the verbs that fall into that pattern

Sorry, I don't have Cyrillic on my computer. You'll have to deal with my phonetic writing. I wish I had my textbooks at the computer with me, I could give you a lot more.
pozdravlat' - to greet
ponimat' - to understand
chitat' - to read

Sorry, send me your e-mail and I will send you some more. Also, a good book to read is "501 Russian Verbs". I can't remember who writes it, but it's chock full of verbs and their conjugations.
