During his diet, he supposedly ate only Subway, and ate only 1000 calories a day, and walked to his classes (he was still in college). There's not much information as to what he ate, but in a year he lost about 235 pounds.

Behind the scence information
He supposably walked two miles to subway, ate his sandwich(which was two foot longs) and walked two miles back.
Before that, he supposably ate about 10000 (ten thousand) calories each day. So you can see why he lost that much weight.

Very simple: He walked to the nearest subway, ordered the special, then walked home. He lost thru a combo of diet AND exercise, iow.

He skipped breakfast, and ate just two subs a day, a small turkey(6inch) and a large veggie(foot-long), along with some baked potato chips, and diet soda.
