Well, thats what the bible is for. People back than don't have the bible to know whether the voice is from God or from the devil.

2 Timothy 3:16 says "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"

So if whatever voice you heard is not according to the Bible, then u know it is not from God.

The messages of the prophets and apostles were authenticated by miracles typically. This showed that the one writing was writing on behalf of God. For example, Moses and the plagues on Egypt, etc.
In the New Testament, we have the testimony of the apostles. Early writings do not try to deny the facts of the New Testament books or say that they are not authentic. The heretics even agreed to their authenticity. It was the interpretation of them that was disputed. The book of 1 John (not the gospel of John) deals with this issue. You may be helped in your question by reading it.

The apostles were also given authority and power to make important decisions and give foundational instruction through the power of God.

If somebody now says that they are speaking from God, I direct them to the first few verses of Hebrews in the New Testment. In that case, I would use your argument, but not in the case of the Old or New Testament.

Your argument fits well with the mindset of our contemporary culture that "you can't know anything for sure" since there are so many agenda oriented people out there spreading lies about everything. It was not until the 1800's that people started making those false claims about scripture itself.

The bible was written by 40 authors over a period of 1500 years and has complete unity in theme & purpose; if Satan had any part in it this wouldn't be true. Peace :-)

The Bible says, "If they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them." Yes, Satan does speak to many people, and tries to deceive them, but he always contradicts Scripture. So just remember the above verse whenever people try to sell you on some doctrine of their church.

You know it is God when what He says is compatible with who He has told us He is.
