I've heard that in Perth, it is cheaper to live. But are the job salaries cheap too?

Perth used to be a very cheap city to live in but as our economy has boomed, so has the cost of living. Rents have gone up, quite substantially but wages are up too. Employers are desperate for staff and are paying very good rates for all types of jobs, whether your a cleaner, receptionist or a skilled worker.

It is abosolutely not cheaper to live, unless you wish to reside several hours ourside Perth city. Currently, Perth is the most expensive place to buy or rent in Australia, including Sydney. Hard to believe, right? There has been a recent boom in the mining industry and everyone from Japanese businessmen to miners from the east coast are migrating here. Newcomers are also flocking from England, China, Germany, India, and many areas of Malaysia. It had been rumoured that the real-estate market will be soon showing decreases in pricing, however there's definitely no sign of that yet.

It's not EXPENSIVE to live here. If you are working full-time you'll have enough for everything you need plus a little left over to have some fun. As far as I know, salaries aren't any different than the rest of Australia.
Main problems are low rental vacancies at the moment so it's hard to find a place and they cost more than they used to, but still aren't that bad. House prices have gone up too, I think the median price is around $400,000. Overall, it's an affordable city, but probably not CHEAP exactly.

youve heard wrong, perth is not the cheapest place to live, it was maybe 5 years ago, but since there was a big boom in western australia, property and rent is just about the highest in the australia, maybe second to sydney. but there is plenty of work here, there are a lot of jobs and good money to be earned.
