VietNam Vet....I had some readjustment problems, but soon overcame it. War is not a pretty thing and it will always stay in your mind.. It affects some worse than others...Civilians are also prone to it, not just combatants...Any horrible event can trigger it Car accident, house fire...

There is some readjustment period after coming home. Why some people have worst than other, that depends on what they saw and if they had any "mental" problems before they enlisted. I saw a lot of stuff, maybe a rationalized what I saw and that is why I am not really affected by it. Some people did not. We had a purposed there, I did my job. I knew that there was a chance that I could get killed or some of my buddies would get killed as it happened, but ultimately I knew what I was getting into and accepted whatever consequences were coming my way.

Some soldiers will, for most of us it just takes a little time getting back to normal life. Some people just have stronger minds then other. But the military as a lot of way to help returning soldiers if they have problems.

I have never seen it, but also I am in the air force, and have only been 5 years. I have had lots of friends deploy, and I have also, and I haven't witnessed any readjustment problems. Also keep in mind air force deployments are shorter than other branches
