Jesus called the crowd to him and said, "Listen and understand. What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' "

Then the disciples came to him and asked, "Do you know that the Pharisees(strict Jews) were offended when they heard this?"

"Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man 'unclean.' For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what make a man 'unclean'; but eating with unwashed hands does not make him 'unclean.' "
Jesus in Matthew 15:10-20

You probally already knew that OT food rules have been bumped off as part of the recent covenant, so ham or shrimp would be ok. So why ham rather of scampi? Ham is a usual Easter food. interior the early days, meat became slaughtered interior the fall. there became no refrigeration, and the clean pork that wasn't consumed in the process the iciness months in the previous Lent became cured for spring. The curing technique took an prolonged time, and the 1st hams have been waiting around the time Easter rolled around. subsequently, ham became a organic determination for the celebratory Easter dinner

Actually like most Easter traditions, the ham came from a pagan tradition. What is now called Lent was a time when people forwent scarce food items to make sure there would be enough to last through the last dregs of winter. At the spring festival of Easter/Eostre/Ostara, they could eat them up again, and ham, which was a tender preserved meat, was a favorite to eat up first.

Way back when the Roman Empire was shopping around for a religion to replace Zeus and his pantheon, the Emperor decided on Christianity.
But he had to maket it to the Romans, who wouldn't go for some of the more exotic Hebrew customs (dietary restrictions, circumsision, not cutting beards, etc.). So he called the Council of Nicea, which had all of the CHristian leaders deciding what Christianity really was.
With the Emporer in charge all non Roman friendly beliefs were thrown out. And that's why you can go through some of the Old Testament and laugh your head off at some of the things "God" wanted you to do.

When Jesus was on this earth, although Jewish, he taught that a lot of the rules and regulations made by men were no longer applicable, especially when the New Covenant came into being during the New Testament times. If you read the book of Colossians in the Bible, there are many textual references that show why sticking to the old ceremonial Jewish laws was no longer in effect, including those that pertained to the so-called "clean and unclean" meats, pork (swine, ham, bacon) being one of the unclean meats. One of the verses there says that no food is to be considered unclean after it has been prayed for.

Easter? Even that very word is the name of a pagan fertility God. The customs and traditions associated with it include an Egg, a bunny....ever wonder why? The egg is a symbol of fertility, the sign of the un-borne nimrod. The bunny was also used during this pagan feast to recognize it's abundant fertility. This is a form of worship to a God we have not known. Even the date is not Christ's ressurection. By holy calander, Jesus rose of the first day of the week following Passover and Unleavened Bread festivals. The Pagan Fertility Goddes, Easter, is to be worshipped after the full vernel equinox, on that first Sunday. We are being trampled on by Idols...return to God and keep his commands!!
God Bless

Acts 11

Peter Explains His Actions

1 The apostles and the brothers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. 2 So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him 3 and said, "You went into the house of uncircumcised men and ate with them."

4 Peter began and explained everything to them precisely as it had happened: 5 "I was in the city of Joppa praying, and in a trance I saw a vision. I saw something like a large sheet being let down from heaven by its four corners, and it came down to where I was. 6 I looked into it and saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, reptiles, and birds of the air. 7 Then I heard a voice telling me, 'Get up, Peter. Kill and eat.'

8 "I replied, 'Surely not, Lord! Nothing impure or unclean has ever entered my mouth.'

9 "The voice spoke from heaven a second time, 'Do not call anything impure that God has made clean.' 10 This happened three times, and then it was all pulled up to heaven again.

When Jesus walked the earth, he was the ideal human in God's eyes. It is God's will for his children to follow Jesus' behavior and actions. I try but I will admit I fall short occasionally, as we all do. I repent and feel that I am forgiven. Yes, I do serve ham as the main entree for my family's Easter dinner.

Jesus was the passing of the old covenant into the new. besides,

read Mark 7:1-23 -- what defiles a man isn't the physical stuff that goes in, but the soulish things that go in and come out

sorry, but I don't believe I have to be held to religious standards of what to eat vs what not to eat. as long as I'm not defiling the temple

THE REASON JEWS DID NOT EAT PORK WAS BECAUSE THERE WAS NO REFRIGERATION IN THE OLD TESTAMENT AND THE ONLY WAY TO PRESERVE THE MEAT WAS TO "SALT CURE" IT BEFORE IT WENT BAD - AND ALSO BECAUSE THE SWINE WAS A HOOFED ANIMAL : LEV 11:7 : Concerning all the animals which divide the hoof but do not make a split hoof, or which do not chew cud, they are unclean to you: ALSO BECAUSE MANY OF THE LAW OF THE OLD TESTAMENT HAVE BEEN REPLACED EITHER BY MODERN DAY OR THE NEW TESTAMENT THAT REPLACES THE LAW WITH GRACE = WE DONT STONE PEOPLE FOR THEIR SINS OR USE BLOOD SACRIFICES TO ATONE FOR OUR SINS STILL EITHER ...GET IT ??
