child takes his/her wants into consideration. If consequences are pushed in the home, he/she may be worried what would happen if they do something wrong. Same goes with praise, if they know they will get praised for doing something, they're much more likely to do it.
Adults- well I hope most adults do this - take themselves and families into consideration first, then society is a big influence - what will people think of you if you do this? Of course morals and values are in play in an adults decision too. Who will be affected?

Children learn what they live. A child needs to learn how to make decisions based on what he/she was taught by his/her parents.
