According to recent FBI crime statistics four cities in Southern California are among the top ten safest large cities (over 100,000 population) in the United States. They are: Irvine, #1, Thousand Oaks, #6, Glendale, #7, and Simi Valley, #10. Hope this helps.

It depends on where you plan on working. You do not want to commute to far. So to the south, Irvine, Yorba Linda, Parts of SanDiego. To the North, Sim Valley, Parts of Glendale and Burbank, Clabasas, thousand Oaks, Oak Park, Malibu Hills, Malibu, Agoura Hills. Then Farther North, Look at Camarillo And Parts of Ventura, and Ojai.

No such situation as risk-free. Crime can take place everywhere. And as for you being an African-American, that element isn't a concern in any respect. the biggest clarification why African-human beings (and a number of of different races) have been leaving the section is using extreme costs of residing. they're the two shifting to extra fee-effective grounds (ex: Riverside or San Bernardino County) or they're shifting out of state to stumble on extra fee-effective housing (ex: Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, and so on.) SoCal is a sturdy place for a guy or woman who's nicely universal, in spite of shade. whilst in comparison with the place? you would be able to experience being black in SoCal is seen an endangered species while you're coming from a heavily African-American inhabitants including: Delaware, Georgia, North Carolina, and so on. yet heavily, in case you opt to experience like an endangered species, come not sleep in San Luis Obispo County with me the place the hassle-loose is around a million% Black whilst in comparison with la County, that's 9.4%.

I don't know how they come up with these crazy statistics--- but the ones I've seen say the safest cities are:
Irvine in the O.C. and Simi Valley and Thousand Oaks in the Valley....but be aware of your surroundings regardless...

Pasadena, Glendale, parts of Eagle Rock, Burbank, Montrose, La Crescenta, if you want to move to the inland empire I would suggest Rancho Cucamonga, parts of Upland and Ontario.

peed's stats are right, but note this is for cities with populations over 100,000. so, LA which has a huge pop would not be included, but this doesn't factor in pockets of LA that are fine.
burbank, for example has a pop of about 50k. murders happen there, of course, but it's usually someone killing someone they know.
we did have a cop that was killed by a gang banger a couple of years ago, but that was the first cop killed in the line of duty in over 50 years.
factor in schools and commute times in your search.
