Typical body temp is 98.6 F. People have natural variations, so 99.5 is nothing to worry about. You might just be hot right now, or your body is in the beginning stages of fighting an infection. You shouldnt worry until it gets to about 101 or so.

(Also, if you have drank anything within about 40 mins before taking your temp, whether hot or cold, it will significantly effect what your thermometer says. Unless your taking your temp in other ways... lol)

Giardiasis (also known as beaver fever) is a disease caused by the flagellate protozoan Giardia lamblia (also Giardia intestinalis). The giardia organism inhabits the digestive tract of a wide variety of domestic and wild animal species as well as humans. It is a common cause of gastroenteritis in humans, infecting approximately 200 million people worldwide.

Giardiasis is passed via the fecal-oral route. Primary routes are personal contact and contaminated water and food. People who spend time in institutional or day-care environments are more susceptible, as are travelers and those who consume improperly treated water. It is a particular danger to people hiking or backpacking in wilderness areas worldwide. Giardia is suspected to be zoonotic—communicable between animals and humans. Major reservoir hosts would include beavers, dogs, cats, horses, and cattle.

Symptoms include loss of appetite, lethargy, fever, explosive diarrhea, loose or watery stool, stomach cramps, upset stomach, bloating, and flatulence. Symptoms typically begin 1–2 weeks after infection and may wane and reappear cyclically. Symptoms are caused largely by the thick coating of Giardia organisms coating the inside of the small intestine and blocking nutrient absorption. Most people are asymptomatic; only about a third of infected people exhibit symptoms.

Drugs used to treat adults include metronidazole, albendazole and quinacrine. Furazolidone and nitazoxanide may be used in children. Treatment is not always necessary, as the body can defeat the infection by itself.

The drug tinidazole—trade name Fasigyn or Tindamax—can treat giardiasis in a single treatment of 2000 mg, instead of the longer treatment of the other medications listed. The shorter duration of treament may also cause less patient distress. Tindamax is now approved by the FDA[1] and available to U.S. patients.

No, that's close to normal- it's probably due to working out harder than usual. Was it sunny too? It might be a mild case of sunstroke. I recall a time at a track meet when I was young and I got a horrible sunburn with sunstroke- not a very enjoyable experience!

Let me feel your forehead. I think your warmer than usual because you were working hard. Don't worry about it. If you don't feel sick why are you taking your temp?

Normal :o) I don't see immediate death in your future... If you go up to 101 or above then you are sick...
