1. Doing neck exercises increases strength in the neck and distributes the punch from your head down through your shoulders.
2. Rolling with the punches and slipping to avoid them eases the force of the punch and the damage done, i.e. throwing a balloon in the air and hitting it as opposed to hitting a balloon that's stuck to the wall.
3. Deflecting punches off the shoulder (like during a right hook, raising your left shoulder deflects the shot from your chin to the top of your head) and catching a shot in the forehead doesn't hurt as much because it's the hardest bone in the body
4. Catching the punch with your glove
5. Stance. Getting caught flat-footed or off-balance is a sure way to get knocked out. If your legs are strong, in good condition, and you're in a well-balanced position to take the shot, your head can get a little foggy but you can still manage to stay on your feet.
5. Lastly, catching a clean shot hurts. One good shot can knock you out. The point is: Don't take a clean shot.

Theres not really a way to train to take punches to the face. The point is to not take punches to the face. Boxers don't come into the fight wanting to get hit. The rule of boxing is hit and not get hit. But if you've ever been in a boxing match you know that when your in that ring and the adrenaline is flowing you don't even realize that your being punched in the face. If you talk to any fighter whos been knocked out or stopped, they probably don't even realize they were taking as bad of a beating as they did. Its all mental. A good example is George Foreman. You see the young George Foreman who was stronger Physically than the old one but not mentally, was knocked out by Ali. The old Foreman had a totally new mindset and those punches from Ali wouldn't of knocked out the 45 year old Foreman. Its not that his chin changed, his mind did, and that enabled him to take more punches.

There are a couple of ways to train, but at the highest levels, it's completely genetic. Roy Jones Jr. is one of the greatest boxers of our generation, but he can't take many flush punches to the face.
With that said, what you can do is pretty simple:
1. Simply take shots to the face. The more you take, the more you're conditioned.
2. This is the most important. Be aware of the punches and brace yourself mentally and tense up your muscles. The punches that knock you out are typically the ones that you didn't see coming.
3. Neck strengthening exercises help your neck get stronger and distribute the power of the punch across your neck and shoulder muscles.

That's the mindset that they have to be in. The object is to hit and not be hit, but you're going to get hit so you have to be mentally tough when you're a fighter. Some fighters have better chins than others, but any fighter can be knocked out if you nail them on the button. Plus in a fight your adrenaline is going at full speed, so you really don't care about getting hit too much unless you get nailed solidly. You feel the punches afterward the most.

how many pretty boxers are there???? not many!!!! It all comes down to the persons training at the gym were he can spar with people from the gym he's at wearing thicker gloves so they don't damage there faces as you have different weighted gloves!!!! the best way to find out is to go to your local sports store & have a look at the different size boxing gloves they all weigh different ounces for one size...very simular to a pillow fight when they get you with a good whack in the head...some hurt, some don't!!!! except the pillows are at the end of some-ones arms !!!!

In the early 20th century, prize fighters put stuff on their faces to make them more leathery, and difficult to cut. They don't do that now.
You can increase your tolerance for cardiovascular stress by putting yourself through cardiovascular stress, as on a treadmill. You can't increase your tolerance for blows to the head by having someone hit you in the head, so boxers don't do that in training. They get all they need during the fights anyway.
