My female Pomeranian dog is Usually hyper and barking. Whenever my little brother runs down the hallway, she would bark like nothing else. Today, ive noticed that shes VERY calm...too calm, and shes also shivering like theres no tomorrow when I pick her up. I asked my little brother to run down the hallway, you know, for a test run, and she didnt even WALK behind him. she just layed down and went to sleep. She usually likes to play with our cat, but she wont even look at her. She is one and a half years old. I'm worried because we havent been getting her heart medicine like the vet suggested. Could this be Depression? Heart Related? I really want to know what my Poor little dog is going through. Shes Spayed, so its not heat, But I wish I knew What was wrong!

she's just getting older and less interested in the same old things. My Pomeranian shivers all the time, this is just because their so small and sensitive to different temperatures and stuff. My pom is 7 years old now and a lot of the things that used to interest him, like chasing the mop, he stopped doing a long time ago. But if you think the shivering may be seizures then take her to that vet ASAP.

It could very well be caused by her heart condition. If her heart is not working properly, it will make her very weak, and tired. Another thing to think about is if she could have gotten into/eaten anything strange. The symptoms she has, might be a sign of pain. Try offering her something to eat...a treat of some sort that she never turns down. If she can/will eat it and keep it down, keep her quiet for the night and observe. If she is still acting this way in the morning, take her to the vet. If she vomits or will not eat it, give your vet a call and follow his/her suggestions.

Many things can cause the symptoms that you described. You should bring your dog immediately to a vet. I doubt it is depression, may or may not be heart related. She may have ingested something toxic also. Little dogs like the pomeranian have less tolerance for many medical conditions and so I would suggest that you do not wait to seek treatment.

If she is supposed to be getting heart medication then it's very likely related to that. Get the poor girl her medication. You went to the trouble to find out that she had a heart problem, why not medicate her like you should?

My dog use to do that as well. Go back to your vet and get the pills. If it is heart related is shouldn't have been neglected.
