What does it mean when they say "put it on me"?

I hear this all of the time in music and, judging from the context, it has something to do with sex, but I don't get where it comes from or how it's meant.

To put ones self on someone else in a sexual nature. Simply put: to have sex

I always have thought of it as meaning... tell it to me, but yeah I also think depending on how its said it could mean that

it means to "put the blame or other type of difficulty on (the person saying this expression.
