Hi! I am buying a Harbor Breeze®
52" Brushed Nickel and Black Ceiling fan with 4 Light Kit and must know if it is a good fan. And more importantly, is it silent??? Thanks!

Harbor Breeze is a mid quality fan. The most important thing in noise control is to follow the instructions regarding rubber bushings in closed. Do not over tighten the mounting screws. That is one of the most common causes of sound. If the fan is out of balance on the blades it can also cause a hum or shaking. If you are mounting the fan to an existing box, be sure it is securely attached. Good luck.

We've bought a couple Harbor Breeze fans with no problems. They seem to be very well balanced, which makes the big difference in sound.

We just installed one of the platinum series and makes a ticking noise. We have a 2nd one, same kind and we'll see if that one does it too. If so, they're going back. If it wasn't for that noise, it would be great. Several speeds and button to change from summer to winter. Makes a nice breeze, but the noise ruins it.

Depends on the size of the motor. The smaller the motor - the more noise it will make because it has to work harder. Hampton Bay makes the best. I have 5 of them in my house and am very pleased with the performance. Blade balance is very important. Read the instructions carefully.
