My boyfriend insists he's not lying, but I still think he is. I caught him in a lie and he explained but I still think there's more. Why can't he just tell me and understand that it hurts me more to be lied to?

We lie too! Not all guys lie. He is lying because he doesn't want to hurt you or upset you. He thinks he is helping you by not telling you.

Some men are just disrespectful. This makes them lie even though there is no reason to. I mean, would they lie to their male friends? No, probably not. Most men I have been with that lied were like habitual liars. They would lie about the place they got gas. Some of that could have been due to "other relationships". This makes the lying turn into a habit.

Well do you know for a fact that he has cheated on you? Even if someone tells you they didnt lie, its hard to know wheter they're lying about it or not. Are you always insecure about your boyfriend? I think you should think back for a moment and see anything he did that was suspicious that might seem like he's cheating. Think about how many times he calls you, does he see you often, has his attitude towards you changed, etc... If you feel he has not treated you the way like he did before, then it could mean that your bf is either cheating on you or has less interest in you now. You should trust to your instincts because they're usually right. Anyway if you just keep thinking that your bf will cheat on you, theres something wrong with the boy or just your insecurity problems. You should break up with him because things wont work out if that continues on.

Not all men lie! I've known a lot of women who lie as well. So, why do women lie?

If he lies to you it's probably because you set up some kind of expectations that he cannot meet, and instead of being honest with you he lies. Maybe he's afraid of hurting your feelings, or he's embarassed to tell the truth. Who knows?

If it bothers you that much why don't you dump him for someone you can trust?

That is the age-old question and the thing that men don't understand.

The truth is always better than lies - even if it hurts to know the truth but men just can't do it. They are terrible at dealing with situations so they bury their heads in the sand and pray we never find things out.

I have often caught my man lying, and keep warning him not to lie again because he will be caught, but he still does it!

Men lie to avoid dealing with our reactions to the truth because they can't handle us.

I HATE WHEN GUYS DO THAT! My boyfriend just lied to me yesterday...and It was a big lie! So If I were you *( and I'ma gunan do this too)* I would talk to your boyfriend and tell him how much it pisses you off of when he lies. And you would really want him to tell the truth so your relationship is filled with a bounch of lies. Tell him you understand why he lies...**because he doesnt want you to get mad at him** but you would like to hear the truth. Even though the truth hurts sometimes its better then being in a big fat lie. So just tell him how you feel about him Lieing and that you would like him to be honest with you.
What Ever You Do...
Good Luck!

Men don't take things the way women do. If a woman thinks something is a big deal, a man may not see it that way. If a man thinks something is a big deal, a women might not. Anyways, I would tell him straight up exactly what you said here: "Tell me because it hurts more when I'm being lied to." If he's making a habit of lying to you, maybe he isn't the type of person you should date.

Not all men lie... once you catch a lie it is probably really embarrassing and intimidating for him to automatically always tell the truth... and the more you hunt and dig for a lie, the more paranoid and insecure you will get and chances are the more he will continue to hide things. the best way is to let things be for a while and if you continue thinking he's hiding things from you then maybe he is not really worth it. if he cares for you he will realise the best way is to be opened. be careful and do not press him, the more you do, the more he will think twice before telling you something that might offend you or worry you. once you prove you are secure, he will return the favor and be opened to you. being opened and sincere is always the best answer.

men, women, boys, girls...everyone who is human lies. it is totally wrong but people still do it. ppl lie because they don't want to see themselves as that bad or they want to excuse their behavior or they think telling the truth will get them into even more trouble or cause more pain than the lie will. perhaps we lie because we don't hjave respect for the person we are lying to, or don't want to lose respect in the eyes of the one they are lying to so they try to seem good and perfect and not doing bad things. ...it just depends, but you need to think about why he lies to you and you probably should do something different and leave him so that a real man can find you who won't lie to you

Sound like a bit of immaturity. He should realize that eventually the truth always surfaces. A mature person would understand that the truth may have consequence that are unpleasant, but that is better than unpleasant consequences from both the fact and from lying.
