I am in Illinois and my orthodontist charges a flat rate of $5950 for ceramic or metal braces. The average cost is usually between $3000-$7000. Most orthodontists offer consultations for little to no fee. You should see at least 2 orthodontists since treatment options and prices may vary. Most orthodontists offer payments to be made through their office with no interest and you most likely have to put so much down. Some offer financing through companies like Care Credit or Capital One. Braces usually take about 30 mins to an hour to be put on. It varies depending on the patient and the orthodontist. I live in California and I just got braces for my son. It cost $6,000 and he'll have them on for about a year and a half. Everyone's different though so the timing of how long they'll be on your teeth depends on how crooked your teeth are to begin with.
