is yoga cardio exercise
if not what is
i know sum cardio but not a lot

No yoga is not cardio, it is for strength and flexibility. Cardio is running, swimming, jumping rope, bike riding, aerobic classes, kickboxing, tae bo, dancing...anything that helps you to move continuosly for 20 minutes or more without stopping.

I'm really not sure what yoga is, but if its close to pilates, its really not cardio because it focus on stretching and flexibility. Anything that gets your heart rate to rise and blood pumping can count as cardio exercise - running, swimming, biking, walking, dancing, climbing the stairs, cleaning the house (vaccumm, mopping the floor), and much more.

If your heart rate is higher after (or during) then when you rest, you are getting a cardio workout.

"Cardio" is short for cardiovascular which is exercising your heart. To get in the "cardio-zone" your heart rate should be 60-70% of your max heart rate (see link below). Your maximum heart rate is 220 - your age. Hope that helps.
