Which side of the plane has the best view when flying from the west coast to New York City?

Airline I'm taking is American Airlines and I'll be traveling during June. Should I sit on the right side or left side of the plane for the BEST VIEW of New York? Thanks!

Flying from LAX to JFK. Arrival time is in the morning.

It depends on what airport you are flying into and which runway they will be using at that airport at the time you land.

As a rule when flying from LAX to JFK the left side of the aircraft will give you the best views and the reason is simple.
As you know birds and aircraft all take off and land into the wind.
JFK has 2 parallel runways 13R/ 31L and
13L/31R
It also has a perpendicular runway of course numbered 4R/22L
I know i just lost you
All runway numbers are simply the degrees on a compass with zero dropped
So 13L/ 31 R is a runway that is oriented from the southeast 130 degrees to the northwest + 180 = 310 degrees
JFK is located SE of Manhattan
A typical routing LAX /JFK will take you
E into AZ
NE following The colorado river
E over wyoming and nebraska
then doing a shallow arc crossing lake michigan by chicago , lake erie by cleveland and finally coming down the hudson river
If you're going south , east and manhattan will be on your left
If you use 4R/22L your approach will take you out over the atlantic and then you will make a big u-turn and land to the NE [ 40 degrees]
Manhattan on the left
If you use 13R/31L again out over the ocean but this time you will head east and paralell the LI shore
somwhere over fire island you will make another big turn to line up the 310 degree heading.

They change Flight Paths all the time due to weather, air traffic, the Jet Stream, but most likely the best chance you have to see the city is to sit at a Port (left) side window.
Most often you will be flying over Central New Jersey and approach JFK from the south or south west

It really depends on the wind mostly. Often times, you don't get any view of the city when landing in JFK. For the best view, you really need to fly into La Guardia. Even if you can't see it from the plane, you'll know where you are as soon as you get out near the road, and see the yellow cabs ;-)

i've got purely pushed to NYC so can not say for specific. good judgment could dictate, provided that the two important airports are north of enormous apple Harbor and Liberty Island, and which you're drawing near from the west, which you will desire to sit down down on the mind-blowing area. yet this won't be the case in any respect. The ordinary touchdown varieties would have you ever coming in from the north, the place you won't see lots of something different than a tiny spot of land interior the water, or from the south, the place you would be able to would desire to sit down down on the left area. More importantly when you are going from LA to NYC is how to dress so you look your best on each coast. It can be really hard since both cities have such different styles AND different weather!

Sit in the cockpit for the best view.
