I am English and my boyfriend is Irish and I would LOVE to live in Ireland! The country is very cultured and the people are really friendly and up for a good laugh. Yes it rains, but I spent the last 9 years living in Scotland (where it's cold as well as rainy) and at least the climate is more temperate in Ireland because of the gulf stream.
There are many eastern European immigrants who have gone to Ireland to find work, particularly (as in Britain) many people from Poland. But Ireland has a booming economy like it has never had so there seems to be work to be had for those that seek it.
However, the cost of houses and general cost of living is very high in Ireland, much more so than in Britain, and house prices are such that we are unable to move there because we simply cannot afford to, even though we would like to.

It is a fantastic place to live - i should know i've been living here for 24 years. The food is homely and hearthy and for the taste of other national foods we have some of the best restaurants in the world. we have the highest rate of immigrant use in the world at the present moment so i guess we doing something write. the weather is getting better due to global warming i dont know if thats a good thing or not.

Irish people are some of the friendliest in the world. I'm Irish and I've travelled alot of the world so I should know! The food is very high quality and relatively cheap. The education system is one of the best. The medical system is so-so but improving all the time. The traffic sucks. The weather is great if you like water and can afford a sun bed.... what else, the country is beautiful, it's relatively expensive to live hear compared to the rest of europe but pay rates tend to reflect that. All in all a very good place to live!

Ireland is a great place to live. Besides the high cost of living, the weather is OK, cold & wet in the winter, warm with a few hot days during the summer with the odd bit of rain, the commute in & out of Dublin is a nightmare the tax system is crazy but the crack & drink is great, as for the food, you can get any type of food you want here now.....

Only been to Dublin myself and love the place, great people, lots of good eating places, the weather is just like England, when it rains it rains and when its sunny everyone dashes out to get a tan, the Irish seem to be very laid back about immigrants and foreigners they are after all part of the tourist culture that brings revenue into the place.

It is expensive but we cope with that. Foreigners are welcomed and well treated by most of the population. You will always get a few racists in every country. The climate is windy and wet in winter with temperatures ranging from 0-8. In Summer it is milder and often is steadily around 20 degrees but last Summer it was hotter. Food is very good here. There are ethnic restaurants of course and very good speciality ones too like steakhouses and seafood. There are some lovely places to visit and plenty of parks. Transport to the coast is good from Dublin for a day trip.

immigrants mostly stick together as a whole they dont mix in with the community in ireland especially if they cannot speak good english but i live in a large town with alot of english polish a few other nationalities, not many black people and about 15 asian. work is hard to get as the polish are very hard workers and sort after when they do find work they have friends and family to fill any other roles it can be expensive depending on where you live now of course but the people in ireland are not ignorant or abusive to people but obviously if they are causing trouble or begging they are usually shunned

Most foreigners are treated well. Food is good. Weather is fine as long as you don't mind being wet most of the time.
