Yes, take it literally. Moses was speaking to Israel as they were about to enter the promised land and Moses was about to die. They did become corrupt and became involved in the pagan sex cults of those that lived in the land. Evil did befall them when God used Assyria to wipe out the northern tribes of Israel, and Babylon to wipe out the southern tribes of Judah.

Why are you asking Catholics? We're not the ones who say every single word in the Bible is absolute, from the story of creation to Noah's ark. What we DO believe are all the truths having to do with God. As for the quote, I personally have no idea. But I do agree with the fact that the world has gotten a whole lot worse then it used to be!!!

The Old Testament leads to Christ.
Yes, this happened time and time again from Moses, Abraham, & through David and the Prophets in between. This has been fulfilled.

Yes the old testament is literal on the terms of faith. Note that wasn't Jesus speaking but moses speaking to the Israelites... Jesus actually said the gates of hell wouldn't prevail against his church... If your implying we turned corrupt.

Only if you take this literally, too:
Mat 26:26 And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread and blessed and broke and gave to his disciples and said: Take ye and eat. This is my body.
Mat 26:27 And taking the chalice, he gave thanks and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this.
Mat 26:28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.

Yes! That's prophecy came true on they switch the HOLY DAY and they say we can eat what ever we want. They also think we go to heaven when we die when the bible clearly states that we r in a deep rest until the first coming. Now we have all these myths and people believe them b/c of tradition.

Moses speaking to the Israelites before his death, telling them that he knew they would again forsake the Lord. Yeah, I would take it literally.
